It formed almost 15 million years ago, when an enormous meteorite struck the Earth and landed in what is now Bavaria. The extraordinary pressure and heat, combined with the presence of natural mineral particles, gave rise to truly unique crystals that we now call Moldavite.

The name comes from "Moldau", the German name for the Vltava river in the Czech Republic, where the first pieces of this remarkable crystal were discovered.
