One of the most famous legends of Labradorite also tells the story of the beautiful colors “trapped” in this stone. An old legend says that the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis were trapped in the stones on the coast of Labrador, Canada, for a long time. One day, an Inuit warrior came along, saw the trapped lights, and struck the stone with his spear. This action freed the Northern Lights, but some of the light and energy remained in the stones forever. 

Labradorite then got its name from this coast.
