Haematite is an iron oxide mineral, recognised for its steel-grey to black colour. Its name comes from the Greek word haima, meaning "blood", as the stone turns red when ground to a powder.

This raw haematite comes directly from Brazil. What makes it special is its crystallised mineral form, which also contains inclusions of rutile.
