Amber is fossilised resin millions of years old. Our pieces of Amber come from the Baltic region, formed during the Miocene epoch — approximately 23 to 24 million years ago. They may contain tiny fragments of insects or other creatures, which makes each piece all the more extraordinary.

This remarkable petrified resin comes in a range of colours and varies in clarity — from white and pale yellow all the way to black.

Amber was treasured as far back as the Neolithic period. Some 13,000 years ago it was worn as jewellery and carried as an amulet believed to bring good fortune. And in ancient China, it was burned and melted during great celebrations, as it released a wonderfully warm scent when set alight.
