Aquamarine is a special variety of the mineral Beryl, distinguished by its beautiful sky-blue colour. This light blue hue is created by Fe2+ ions, which make the crystal particularly striking.

The earliest written record of this wonderful stone dates back to around 400 BCE, found in Greece. Even so, evidence exists that various peoples were already using the stone for more than 2,000 years before that.
